Wk 7 Tutorial lip syncing

In this weeks tutorial Lisa taught the class Lip syncing, it was pretty interesting and a good aspect to learn because a number of people have characters that will be talking and if lip syncing isn't done right, it looks really bad. However in my group we are not using lip syncing.

Just a few images of lip syncing tutorial we did in class.

Hand up and presentation of Assignment 3

The collaboration of our assignments, end with a success the day before the actual assignment was due and each member of our team seemed happy. We ended up collating all our bits and pieces of our individual parts of our animatic into adobe after affects and set the timing as well. After that was completed we discussed, what part each person would present in our presentation. Then we all decided that we would each just mention the parts we all did individually. For example: I worked on the characters and both the walk cycles so I presented them because I knew most about it and the others did the same. The end result was quite pleasing and the feedback was peasant and the advice was great.

So the characters still need more work, especially Hedge to suit with Pedro more. Pedro needs some lines removed to get rid of the leotard affect and both walk cycles need to be improved with more personality.

Character Walk cycles

Firstly Pedro walk cycle

He seems to have kinda a drunken limp, this was probably due to wrong timing. Since there is a bit more drag than an average cycle, so it should of been obvious to extend the time frame. However this did not occur to me hence lead to his drunken limp

Secondly Hedge walk cycle

Hedge being a more front character resulted on the walk cycle being a more side front walk. I found it more hard to compose Hedges walk due to his personality wasn't quite clear visual in my head, all I got from Hedge was a confident, successful business cow. So I try to emphasis the confident in the walk, however I still the walk still needs a bit of more personality put into it.

More work in progress

Continuing this week will be further refinement of characters and the initiation of photoshop with adding of colour and detail. Also I will be starting on the characterized work cycles for both characters.

We also have a group meeting today to work on the animatic, hopefully we get a good amount of work done with our collaboration today.

work update

In the past weeks I have just been drawing and trying to come with a chosen character that best suited the personality of the characters in the story.

Here some of the drawing I have done

I still believe there is still more refining to do on the characters and since our group is working in a similar style as carnivore reflux. There is still more stylizing and refinement into that sort of style. Hence it would make it more easier to animate in flash as well

Tutorial week 5

Oh basically in this tutorial Lisa taught us how to use the bone tool in flash and make firer move like fire when animating in flash. The bone tool was very useful because you could also restrict movement of angles of rotation but also you could move the object side to side. Animating the fire was pretty awesome as well, just by adding in these little hints to your first and end image it allows the firer image to move more smoothly.

Update on current events

In the last few weeks, I've just been working in my group with Maddie and Stefan on each of individual roles to complete our assignment 3. so each of us have our roles
eg.

Background scenes: Stefan
Characters: Hana
Storyboard: Maddie
Walk Cycle: Hana
Flash Presentation/DVD: Maddie
Animatic: Everyone
Logo: Stefan
Test Animations: Hana
Oral: Everyone
Marketing: Hana

So I have basically started collecting images and cutting and pasting designs together to see how characters would look. The group seem to be very interested in the cow from far-side comics strip and bill the cat from an old American cartoon.
